Brooklyn Chamber's 2nd Annual Health and Fitness Week to Kick Off November 15th

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will launch its Brooklyn Health and Fitness Week for the second consecutive year on November 15th. The week-long wellness initiative will run through November 22nd and will include 42 participating gyms and fitness centers.

Throughout the week, contributing venues will be offering discounts and specials -- including free classes and monthly promotions -- in an effort to promote healthy living and exercise throughout the borough.

This year's Brooklyn Health and Fitness Week will include two new features -- the Brooklyn Health and Fitness Guide and the Brooklyn Health Care Summit. The fitness guide, which will be distributed throughout the borough and also be available online, will serve as a resource for Brooklynites seeking information on gyms and fitness studios in their neighborhoods. It will be released on November 19th during the Brooklyn Health Care Summit, an event focusing on the issues surrounding the health care industry in the borough. The summit will be held at St. Francis College, and will be highlighted by keynote speaker Wendy Stark, Executive Director of Callen Lorde Community Health Center, and presentations by Philip Santora of New York Road Runners and Dr. Michele Montecalvo of St. Francis College.

"The Brooklyn Chamber is thrilled to launch our second Brooklyn Health & Fitness Week," said Brooklyn Chamber President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura. "This initiative not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, but it showcases some of the incredible health-related businesses in Brooklyn."

"EmblemHealth is pleased to sponsor Brooklyn Health and Fitness Week," said David Flemister, EmblemHealth Director of Brand Strategy and Community Marketing. "Encouraging New Yorkers to be more physically fit and eat healthier is one way EmblemHealth works to improve the overall health of our of communities. We are excited to be part of this week-long promotion of healthy living practices in Brooklyn and throughout New York."
